Structure
What is the Golgi Apparatus made of?
  • The Golgi Apparatus is made up tiny sacs called cisternae

  • The Golgi apparatus normally has six cisternae but the amount can range from three to twenty.

Functions
What does the Golgi Apparatus do?
  •  The function of the Golgi Apparatus to make protein for the cell. The Golgi Apparatus is similar to a packing center and transporting center. It packages, sorts, and then transports proteins and lipids.

Biomolecules
What organelles does the Golgi Apparatus work with?
What biomolecules work with the Golgi Apparatus

  • The biomolecules that works with the Golgi Apparatus are proteins and lipids.
  1. Proteins contain amino acids that build your muscles.
  2. Lipids are fat that works in insulation. Some things that contain lipids are oils and butter.
  • An organelle that the Golgi apparatus works with is the ER. Th Golgi Apparatus receives proteins and lipids from the ER and then sorts, packages, then transports it to either lysosomes, the cell membranes and if not these secretion.

Malfunctions
What would happen of the Golgi Apparatus was stopped working?

  • If the Golgi Apparatus was to stop working then the cell wouldn't have lysosomes and then it wouldn't be able to break down or digest leftover material from the making of the proteins, the plasma membrane would also be affected, and the body wouldn't get protein or lipids from secretion.

5 Organelles
What are 5 organelles that work with the Golgi Apparatus

  1. ER: The ER works with the Golgi Apparatus. The ER sends the Golgi Apparatus protein for it to package sort and transport.
  2. Lysosomes: The Golgi Apparatus sends proteins to the lysosomes.
  3.  Ribosomes: Ribosomes make proteins that eventually will get sorted, packaged, and transported by the Golgi Apparatus.
  4. Nucleus: The nucleus makes DNA that turns into RNA that is put into proteins by ribosomes. Ribosomes are were proteins are made and the Golgi Apparatus sorts, packages, and transports them.
  5. Vesicle: Since the Golgi Apparatus works closely with the ER. There needs to be something that transports the protein from point A to point B. That is the vesicle. It is a tiny sacs that transfers proteins from the ER to the Golgi Apparatus.

Interesting Fact

  • The Golgi Apparatus is also known as the Golgi Complex or the Golgi Body.
